Mildew Stains

Salt In The Laundry…Mildew Stains

For mildew stains you can try a little bit of salt and lemon to freshen it. Moisten the stained spot with a mixture of lemon juice and salt and then spread the item in the sun for bleaching. Next rinse and dry and then follow up by laundering as usual.

Old cotton and linen that get a yellow cast can be brightened by boiling them for about an hour in a solution of water and equal parts of salt and backing soda. Use a ½ cup each of salt and baking soda per gallon of water.

If you add 4 tablespoons salt to 1 quart of hot water and sponge yellow perspiration stains on a shirt the stains will disappear. It may take a few times. It also gets rid of the smell.
